Dr Lisette Johnson (Head of School, ScreenSpace - MetFilm School)

Dr Lisette Johnston has been a journalist for the past 15 years, working as a multimedia news reporter, producer and editor. Since 2010 she has worked in a number of roles at BBC News, most recently as the Planning Editor for BBC World News in London. She has reported on the red carpet, on military deployments and riots, and been the voice in many news presenters’ ears. Lisette is hugely passionate about education and holds a formal teaching qualification. Since 2008 she has been involved in teaching and training students, and has worked as a BBC mentor and outreach adviser in schools and universities. Lisette received her PhD in journalism studies from City University of London in 2016. Her research focuses on social media and citizen journalism, and how their use impacts multimedia news coverage and journalistic practices. The main case study for her thesis was the Syria conflict. Her work across industry and academia offers her a unique insight into media landscape.
